New Parent Tips

Expecting a baby?

Congratulations! Having a baby is one of the most special, rewarding times of your life.

Family First Pediatrics provides expert care for newborn babies through adolescence. Please feel free to call our office to schedule a tour, meet the doctor and his staff and ask any questions you may have. Dr. Selsky and his staff look forward to helping your child grow into a happy, healthy adult.

The following information will help you as you prepare for the exciting arrival of your baby.

Who will see my baby in the hospital?

A qualified on-staff pediatrician will take care of your baby in the hospital. Please tell your obstetrician and hospital that you have chosen Family First Pediatrics to take care of your baby. If you would like Dr. Selsky to visit and examine your newborn in the hospital, please let us know in advance.

When should I schedule my baby’s first appointment?

We see your family 24-48 hours after being discharged from the hospital. You can pre-register with our office, then call to schedule your first appointment after your baby is born.

When will my baby receive vaccines?

Dr. Selsky and Family First Pediatrics understand and strongly support the scientifically based principles of immunization practice that protects not only the child, but also the community from potential deadly infections. We are happy to discuss these principles with our families. We follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
